Post Season - All-Stars and Honors
  1. Who is eligible to play on Honors and All Star teams?
  2. What commitment does the player need to make for post-season play?
  3. What is the time commitment for post-season play?
  4. What is the process for All-Star and Honors team selection?

1. Who is eligible to play on Honors and All Star teams?

  • All players who played at the Minor or Major level during the regular season may choose to be considered for post-season play.
  • Not all players will be chosen for post season teams, however MHLL will try to put together enough teams to assure that a majority of those interested in being on a post season team are selected to play.

2. What commitment does the player need to make for post-season play?

  • If a player puts his name in for consideration for post season play, he MUST be available to attend ALL practices and games if he is selected for a team.
  • Please do not put in a form committing to post season play if your player has to miss any of the post-season.

3. What is the time commitment for post-season play?

  • MHLL participates in both the District 4 Honors tournaments and All-Star tournaments. Please check the websites for tournament dates.
  • Practices for All Stars and Honors begin the week of June 17, 2013 immediately following the end of the regular season. Teams practice several times each week until their respective tournaments begin.
  • Honors tournaments for ages 9/10, 10/11 and 11/12 are at the district level only. These tournaments usually end by July 7.
  • All Star tournaments begin in late June at the district level. All Stars teams that win their district tournaments move on to state tournaments that end in mid-July. For 9/10 and 10/11 All Stars teams, the state tournament is the last tournament of the post season.
  • If our 11/12 All Stars team wins the district and state tournaments, they advance to the Northwestern Regional tournament in San Bernadino, CA immediately following the end of the state tournament. This is a 12-day tournament in early August. Little League pays for the players and coaches travel, meals and lodging expenses during the tournament.
  • If the 11/12 All Stars win at regionals, they advance to the World Series tournament in Pennsylvania. The players would fly directly from the regionals tournament to the World Series tournament. The World Series ends in late August. Little League pays for the players and coaches travel, meals and lodging expenses during the tournament.

4. What is the process for All-Star and Honors team selection?

As stated in Section 8 of the MHLL Local Rules:

8. Rules Governing the All-Star/Honors Tournament Team Selection

8.1. The Board will establish the criteria for the selection of Managers, Coaches and Players for post-season play. The Board shall approve all nominations of Managers, Coaches and Players for positions involving post-season play.

8.2. The top six (6) Players for the Major All Star team will be selected based on a count of votes by the Players from the Major division. The six (6) players receiving the most votes from their peers will be the first six (6) players selected to the Major All Star team. Additionally, Major Managers will vote to select the remaining six (6) Players to fill out the Major All Star Team roster. Players and Managers cannot vote for Players from their own team.

8.3. One 10/11-year-old All Star team may be selected by a vote of the Major Managers after the Major All Star Team is selected. Managers may not vote for Players from their own team.

8.4. One or two 11/12 Honors teams(s) may be selected by a vote of the Major Managers after the Major and 11-year-old All Star Teams are selected. Managers may not vote for Players from their own team.

8.5. The 9-10 year old All-Stars and 9-10 year old Honors team(s) Players will be chosen by a vote of appropriate division Managers (Majors & Minors). Only Major Division Managers with a 10 year-old Player on their team may attend the selection meeting for the 9-10 year old All Star Team and 9-10 Honors Team(s), however, the Major managers with a 10-year old player are not allowed to vote. Managers may not vote for Players from their own team. One or two 9-10 Honors teams may be selected by a vote of the Managers.

8.6. To be eligible for either the All Stars or Honors post season selection, each Player and their parents must submit to the Player Agent by the designated deadline, their understanding of the post season commitment and their intention to make themselves eligible for consideration by the Division Managers. In addition a Player must have satisfied all eligibility requirements define in "2008 Baseball Little League Official Rules and Playing Regulations", and have met all local league financial registration requirements by the same designated deadline.

8.7. Attendance of the All Star and Honors Section Meeting is limited to the following participants:

  • Managers of the appropriate division (Major & Minors)
  • Vice President of Baseball/Softball, which ever is appropriate
  • Player Agent
  • President
